Code of Professional Conduct for MTRA Examiners
MTRA is committed to providing a safe, productive, and welcoming environment for all examiners. This is intended to guide MTRA members’ professional conduct during examinations.
MTRA expects examiners to engage in professional behavior, which includes:
- Being considerate, respectful, and collaborative
- Arriving on time and not leaving early, unless unavoidable
- Having assigned tasks completed accurately and appropriately in a timely manner
- Communicating clearly, appropriately and timely
- Being present during the entire exam as directed by the EIC, for meetings with the MSB in particular.
- Being mindful of the surroundings and of fellow examiners. If the MSB has provided refreshments, do not abuse that courtesy.
Prohibited behavior includes:
- Intimidating, harassing, abusive, threatening, discriminatory, derogatory, indecent, or demeaning speech or actions, including misgendering or unwelcome sexual attention of others.
- Failing to cease conduct that makes other uncomfortable when asked to do so.
- Substance use/abuse that affects working relationships with others, including being inebriated.
- Possession of any weapons notwithstanding local laws that may permit them.
- Ongoing or disruptive personal conversations on cell phones.
MTRA reserves the right to take any action deemed necessary and appropriate to enforce this code of conduct and may delegate the enforcement of the code of conduct to another appropriate party such as the EIC of the MTRA multi-state examination or the ombudsman. Actions that MTRA, or its delegate, may take may include, but are not limited to, a stern clear warning, notifying the examiner’s agency leadership, filing a report with the ombudsman, immediate removal from the examination or exclusion from joint exams going forward.
