Cindy Fazio Award for Excellence in Licensing

The Cindy Fazio Award for Excellence in Licensing is established by the Money Transmitter Regulators Association (“MTRA”) to honor individuals who have made outstanding contributions in the field of licensing money transmitters.  This award aims to celebrate and encourage excellence in the field of licensing money transmitters, recognizing the dedication and impact of current or former employees of state regulatory authorities.

Selection Criteria.  Recipients will be selected based on their contributions in any of the following areas:

  1. Professional Excellence: Demonstrated high standards of professionalism and integrity in the field of licensing money transmitters.
  2. Leadership: Evidence of leadership qualities and the ability to inspire others in the field.
  3. Service and Commitment: A strong record of service and commitment to the regulatory community and the public interest.
  4. Collaboration and Multistate Efforts: Active participation in multistate initiatives and working groups that foster cooperation, information sharing, and collaboration between regulatory agencies from different states.
  5. Education and Mentoring: Exceptional contributions to the education, training, and mentoring of licensing staff, enhancing the overall competency and effectiveness of the regulatory workforce.

Nominating Process

  1. Eligibility: Nominees must be current or former employees of a state regulatory authority who have worked in the area of licensing money transmitters.
  2. Nomination Submission: Nominations can be submitted by any MTRA member regulator. Each nomination must be received by June 30 and shall include:
    • A completed nomination form.
    • A description of the nominee’s contributions and achievements.
  3. Review Committee: A selection committee composed of three Board members will review all nominations and recommend the proposed recipient to the MTRA Board of Directors. The committee will evaluate nominees based on the established criteria.
  4. Selection and Announcement: The award recipient will be selected by the MTRA Board of Directors and announced at the annual MTRA conference.
